Halloween costumes change every year, but there are some that people hold near and dear. Most people know about the sexy cop costume for women, and the popular 70’s couple costume. In the last few years, costumes have taken a turn, and the most popular ones seem to be people that have been in the news… a lot. Since 2009, Snooki and Lady Gaga have been popular, and last year, it was virtually impossible to get your hands on an Antoine Dodson costume, also known as “The Bed Intruder Guy.”
With all of the celebrity drama and competitive movies this year, it was pretty much fair game for who would take first prize.
Last year’s most popular female costume was Lady Gaga, because of her outlandish makeup, so it’s no surprise that one of this year’s top female costumes is Natalie Portman’s Black Swan.
Nostalgia is absolutely rampant this year with the return of Nickelodeon’s 90’s shows, so it’s almost expected that young adults will be dressed as characters that remind them of their favorite cartoon characters. Expect to see plenty of guys dressed as Chuckie Finster from “Rugrats” and some women dressed as Patty Mayonnaise from “Doug”.
The two big scandals of 2011 were about former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s illegitimate child with his housekeeper, and his subsequent divorce from Maria Shriver. Maybe even bigger was “Two and a Half Men” star Charlie Sheen’s battle with Chuck Lorre, the show’s writer, resulting in Sheen being fired. That’s why it is no surprise that Charlie Sheen is the number one halloween costume for 2011.
