Welcome new nursing students
The Nursing Program at HCC Dale Mabry Campus held its 2014 Fall Orientation July 1-2, 2014.
This 2 day event included participation of 130 new students admitted into the Nursing Program. The incoming class of 2016 were greeted by Director of Nursing Gayle Peterson-Palmberg and Health Sciences Dean Leif Penrose. On their first day, they receive information from various campus departments to acquaint them with services and resources available at HCC.
The orientation plan was revised to include a second day presented by the first semester NPI nursing faculty. These presentations were designed to provide the students information to prepare them for their transition from pre-nursing student to a student actively pursuing his or her nursing degree. The Student Nurse Association (SNA) officers from all nursing program campuses also attended to offer their support for the new nursing students.
One student wrote in their evaluation of the program, “I really enjoyed the presentations from the faculty, they made me feel excited to be a part of this program.” Another commented, “Everyone seems eager to help students.”
The nursing department would like to thank all those who participated in making this first step in the Class of 2016’s journey to become nurses.
