Go Hart’s innovation
Like many cities in the world, Tampa, Florida has its own transportation system that is helpful to thousands of people without a car, or people who simply enjoy a night out without driving. From taxi s to public buses, many companies in the Tampa transportation system are trying to implement more technology to better serve their clientele base.
The Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority, or HART, is no exception when it comes to modernization; and it comes as no surprise as to why the company has approved an $86,386,342 budget.
Hart serves as many as 40,000 people daily, according their public record, and this figure includes a large number of workers and students.
Earlier this year, the company launched One BusAway; real-time bus arrival information via text message. The service was initially only available on the Internet.
However, given the fact that most students and riders have smartphones, the applications has been expanded to include an app for Windows, Google and Apple based phones.
The One Bus Away site states its main goal is “to make it easier to use public transit by providing easy access to schedule and real-time arrival information for the buses you ride every day.”
According to the their CEO Katharine Eagan, HART remains driven to serve the community through convenient and affordable public transportation options tailored to contemporary lifestyles. College students use HART every day to travel between classes, so keep in mind that you have these beneficial tools at your disposal.
