New iPhone release
When first released in 2007, the iPhone had two colors: black or white. Six years later, a new official color has been added: Gold. The iPhone 5S, the upgraded iPhone 5, was released September 10 during Apple’s usual fall reveal. The prices start at $199.00 for a 16GB phone with a plan, and go all the way to $849.00 for an unlocked 64GB phone. The iPhone 4S had the same prices at release. A new fingerprint unlock feature has been added for extra security.
Another phone for a smaller budget was also revealed. The iPhone 5C is marketed as a cheaper, more colorful smartphone. The body is made from plastic instead of metal, and it has an A6 chip instead of the new A7. It is slightly larger than the 5S and a little heavier. It is available in white, red, yellow, blue, and green, with mixable cases. The iPhone 5C starts at $99.00 for the 16GB with a plan, and goes up to $649.00 for the unlocked 32GB model.
For people considering upgrading, the 5S is the usual generational step up in features and hardware. For those looking for a more affordable entry into the world of smartphones, the 5C is a colorful new option.

The iphone 5S has an a7 processor which is designed for 64 bit processing, a better camera and the fingerprint reader. This 64 bit processor improves the speed of applications. Having upgraded my current iphone to IOS7, I can say that it is one of the best in terms of speed and performance. It is great but I don’t believe that they will see much applications developed for this 64 bit processer before next year. IOS7 operating overhead reduces the battery charge in a much shorter time frame than its predecessor so it would be nice to see how the iphone 5S manages this. They have an 8 megapixel camera on the iphone 5S. This has better imagery which is good for taking pictures. ,

Hi Alexander,
I’m not into the I-phone at all, but you made them sound really cool! I’m a Galaxy Note owner and I love my phone! If the Apple owners ever make the I-phone bigger then I will definitely purchase it. It is just so small to me and the fact that the outer shell is the similar material to the screen scares me. The gold I-phone is very cute and girly. I’m glad Apple is broadening their horizon and trying new colors for their phones other than just black and white. I still don’t understand the differences in the gigs and features. I do notice the price differences which lead me to believe the higher the price the better the phone, or the more storage? Thanks for all your helpful information it made it easier when its time to upgrade.
Thanks,
Melissa

The original iPhone, 2G and even the 3G only came in black, as far as I’ve ever known. It wasn’t until the iPhone 4 that Apple gave the white phone option.
Have you heard anything about the controversy between Apple and Nokia over Apple’s 5C edition? From what I’ve followed, Nokia has felt that Apple copied their Lumia phone that comes in: red, yellow, blue, green and orange. The closest thing to a statement from Apple has been something along the lines of: Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
I’ve been wondering about the 5C and what they’re using as their antenna. It must be however they did the 2G and 3G, before they started using the metal framing the more square 4-5S.
You mentioned mixable cases for the 5C, but I haven’t seen any yet. I’m very curious to see those options as well.
