Dance Club performs at Ybor campus
In the fall, the Dance Club performed to a packed audience for their fall concert November 14-16. The audience was full of students, family, friends, and members of the community.
The first act of the show was “Crossing Paths” which was choreographed by Claire Andrews to music by Al Di Meola. Next was “Como Agua Somos” which means “we are like water” in Spanish and was choreographed by Elsa Valbuena with music by Manuel Wandji. Student Zoe Gallon performed in the performance number.
Another unique performance was “Malarious Hysterium” which had the sound of flies through most of performance and performers danced as they tried to swat the flies. The number also included footage of the performers on screen moving around. Students Zoe Gallon and Alina Esapovich also performed in the piece. It was choreographed by club adviser Christina Acosta with music by David Gordon and David Rosenberg.
After the intermission, the show went on to with the piece “Theme and Oscillations”, choreographed by Acosta. The next piece was “Random Encounters” choreographed by Jack Clark with music by Steve Reich.
The show proceeded with “Portrait of a 10×10 Room” choreographed by Acosta with music from the Cinematic Orchestra and ended with “Awakenings”, choreographed by Nancy Petro with music by Jesse Cook, and the Gypsy Kings.
The show ended with a standing ovation.
