Congratulations to the Hillsborough Community College Volleyball team on a stellar regular season and a thrilling state tournament run in November.
The lady hawks won their first two games against Pensacola State (25-19, 25-19, 26-28, 25-21) and Polk State College (25-21, 25-22, 22-25, 18-25, 15-9) to reach the semi-finals, but were thwarted by the College of Central Florida (15-25, 26-24, 22-25, 22-25) in the semis.
It was a successful overall. Also, there were six players who received Suncoast Conference recognition. Rachel Powell was named the Suncoast Conference Player of the Year, and teammate Rebecca Schnabel received All-State honors. Both were named first team All-Suncoast Conference.
Second team All-Suncoast Conference honors went to Zoe Sostre, Nicole Higgins, Gabi Berrios, and Francesca Indoni. The lady hawks made great strides during their season and were able to show resiliency and toughness in adversity. Congratulations to the sophomores on their brilliant careers and good luck to the freshman next season.
